I traveled to the city of Caial Brael today. Someone of unimportance requested I deliver some poison to some hoity toity type in town, and since I was bored of the little suburb I called home, I thought “sure, what a way to get out and see some new places.” Along the way, I worked on my parley skills with many strangers. Some were really good at debate, others, well.. let’s just say, if I trumped their arguments, they weren’t too bright.
A major storm came through today. The powerful trees even bowed to the wind’s gusts. It amazes me that something of invisible force can actually bring solid objects to their bases. With the wind came intense lightening. I studied it as I glomped on to my destination, and it wasn’t long before I was able to duplicate (on a much smaller scale) the power of the spark.
Turns out the dryads are much more to deal with than originally thought. Mr. High and Mighty told me to deal with them, so I did. It gave me an opportunity to test my new spells, one of which calls the roots from trees themselves to help me. Along with that, I made a small stone man of random pebbles, and brought him to life with my own sparks. He doesn’t think much, but tries hard on hurting things that would hurt me. I think I’ll call him Pebbles.
Did you know the Glade of the Lost (a place where misinformed spirits reside) has an underground temple? I sure didn’t! I went to help clarify their misconceptions of life and explored. I found a tiara, which was pretty, silver, glittery..all the things a girl could want; only, it wasn’t mine to keep. <Frowns> Some one else had lost it, so I …”gladly” returned it to him. Family Heirloom, bah!
After having some rousing debates and discussion, I was told I might be able to help some captains along the coast in Tawar Galan. The captains argued over some reward being handed out, but really, since they were both going to get it, I simply pointed out to the most stubborn, who refused to see reason for almost 45 minutes, that he was just as good as the other captain, and the prize still meant something. Along the way to the coast, I found some soldiers who were having doubts about continuing their service to the lands. With a little coaxing, however, I riled their spirits and they continued to fight for their commander.
Overall, things went well today. I gave the Chief Mudwitch of the dryads some special fertilizer, but I don’t think she liked it. She’s dead now, so I’ll have to make sure to tell the guy who gave that to me to give to her that it didn’t work. Although, this does buy us a reprieve from the dryads trying to kill us <shrug>. Silver lining and all.
There are some amazing lizards north of Caial Brael. Quite large, some small, and they love to fish. They store their fish in baskets, but oddly enough, I fail to see where they got the baskets from to begin with. They don’t have opposable thumbs! Some of the bigger lizards made certain that I felt unwelcome in their makeshift camp. Though I did find a nice vest, club, and chest plate for a mail wearer, should I meet one.
It’s time to rest now, as it’s late in the evening, and the morning waits for no one!
